Is there a place where I can buy multiple computer monitors for an office? I'm looking to buy about 12-24 flat screen monitors for a 2 or 3 office areas. I want to find a place that will sell them to for discounted since I'm buying them in bulk. Is there such a place like that out there?
Where can I find a good quality flat screen computer monitor for the lowest price online? I'm comparison shopping for flat screen monitors and am looking for a big discount or the the best deal/lowest price online.
Need to buy flat screen computer monitor for super cheap price? Anyone know a good store or web site...? that sells flat screen monitors at a discount - I"m talking like $50ish... ebay isn't cutting it and neither is Best Buy, CompUSA, etc. HELP - I want a monitor but I'm broke!!!
I would like to know if the 22 inches monitor HDMI could function as T.V. as well? I bought my "Gateway" computer monitor in a discount electronics store through internet. It is working properly, but it has no booklet nor instruction, can any computer savvy help me with my question? Thanks so much.
What price level is best for a monthly computer maintenence service? I want to offer a service to maintain PC users computers. This is a proactive method, ensure things like Anti-virus, anti-spyware is running properly, security updates complete. Most work done remotely by logging in through the client modem/router to the PC. Current client has 5 children, and wants their activity monitored, parents are not computer literate. I have the methods, the skills, and the tools to check all activities and security components on today's PC's. Will people pay $19.95/month for me to ensure the computer stays running (longer) than it would without the service? Not guaranteed if they do certain "bad" things..", disable anti-virus, use lots of file sharing (viruses..), etc. Alerts on the above. Would also offer a discount on services, like upgrades, free email support, install new software, trip charge, recommendations, hardware replace - all discounted deeply with plan. What do you think? Is there a set of services and a price level that will sell > $10/mo.
Buying a new (Lenovo) computer; would an old monitor (from Dell) work with it? I am thinking of buying a new computer from Lenovo, as I get discounts through my employer. Right now I have a Dell...including a 15" monitor. Would anyone know off-hand if the monitor would work with a Lenovo computer or would I have to purchase a new one?
Is there a difference between a VGA and DVI cable for a computer monitor? I just bought a flat screen Samsung monitor for my computer. I got a $50 discount on it because they couldn't find the DVI cable for it (it was a display model). I plugged it in with a VGA/SVGA cable and put it in the RBG in slot oppose to the DVI in slot because it wouldn't fit there. Everything seems to be fine. Should I go out and buy a DVI cable for any reason. This is my monitor http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8817462&type=product&id=1206749957379 and my cable cord is a Belkin VGA cable cord that says it supports high-resolution imaging, fast vertical and horizontal refresh rates, and bandwidth of up to 300MHz. Thanks in advance for any advice.
My computer turns on okay but the monitor doesn't. What could have caused this to happen? I basically turn the computer on and it runs like usual but this time the machine keeps working on something and I have no idea what it is because the monitor won't turn on. I keep pushing the power button and it turns from green to yellow to orange. I pushed the restart button on the machine and the process repeats itself over again. It worked fine the night before (11/12). A week ago I purchased a new power supply from a discount computer store. Do you think this problem is related to the power supply? The desktop computer that I have is only 3.5 years old. I had to use my old laptop to ask this question. Okay after reading the first answer to my question, I decided to turn my computer on and the monitor actually turned on for once. However, now it is stuck in MS-DOS mode and is listing primary masters and primary slaves which is quite over my head. The computer beeps when I turn it on.
Help with buying a computer? I want to buy a PC for Christmas...But I'm only allowed up to $400: YES I KNOW, THATS NOT A LOT AT ALL, BUT MY FAMILY ARE NOT FINANCIAL AS MY DAD HAS BEEN LAID OFF WORK. Now, If anyone is sensible enough not to laugh at that, or critisize me. I've been looking at computers like this: http://www.tradingpost.com.au/Computers/Computer-Systems/Computer-Systems/AdNumber=W1233117019252?CRDealerID=Y2oKoQwkEOAAAAEarEwg3xbX&HotlistView=true http://www.tradingpost.com.au/Computers/Computer-Systems/Computer-Systems/AdNumber=W1233118560697?CRDealerID=Y2oKoQwkEOAAAAEarEwg3xbX&HotlistView=true AND in this: the 3rd one pictured for $399 that says *80 units left: http://www.computeroutlet.com.au/refurbishedsys.html What I was wanting to know is, going by those pictures, how much RAM do you think the computers would have, how much HDD? And would any of them be Dual Core? If you could suggest any websites that sell discount computers (under $450) that are rather good, IN the melbourne area (as I cant afford to pay shipping and would need to be able to pick it up), that'd be great. If not, what one of those 3 would be best to buy? I need the Harddrive, Monitor, Keyboard and Mouse. as I already have logitech 5.1 surround speakers, luckily. Sorry If I come accross like a prick, but I wanted to get everything clear as I tend to get critized so much on this site, due to the fact that I can never afford amazingly top of the line things.
Looking to buy a new computer...NEED HELP!? I'm looking for a new computer (preferrably a Dell since i can get a discount) that will be able to handle everyhting from gaming to hundreds of iTunes/Limewire songs and pictures. This computer will be shared with two other people who will also have many programs on their accounts as well. I don't want anyhting too fancy, and i'm not looking for packages with monitors and printers. I just want something that will be able to preform well and at a good price. thanks!
Is 1920 x 1080 resolution equivalent to full HD? For buying a computer monitor (about 22"), if it is described as having 1920 x 1080 resolution does that make it equivalent to full HD? In a very related question, of the two following monitors, discounting the speakers, which would you prefer buying (you may want to check the tech specs because they seem pretty similar)? http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/6704867/c_1/1%7Ccategory_root%7COffice%2C+PCs+and+phones%7C14418968/c_2/2%7Ccat_14418968%7CComputers+and+monitors%7C14419111/c_3/3%7Ccat_14419111%7CPC+monitors%7C14419112.htm Thanks. and http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/2684005/art/asus/vh222h-22-tft-screen-5ms.html Thanks. I was also confused by the fact that the monitor from Argos (which is a huge retailer in the UK) did not have any model number provided (even though others on the site do). I therefore went to the shop and asked to view the item. The one they showed me had model number W2243S-pf, if I remember correctly. On some websites this is listed as 1600 x 900 resolution whereas on others as 1920 x 1080, which is quite confusing. Your answers have been good assurance for me.
Don't you hate it when people answer your question with advertisements? I've had just too many of them, one of then a couple of hours ago was a technical question on how to fix my computer monitor and I got an answer that mentioned discounts on NIKE SNEAKERS....wow
Is this a good deal for a computer package? HP Pavilion a6110n pc: w/ AMD athlon 64 X2, ddr2 SDRAM, 2GB Ram, 320 GB hard drive, cd/dvd burner, microsoft windows vista home premium ; microsoft office 2007; norton antivirus 2007; 19" lcd monitor; basic printer All this stuff for about $830 after rebates and discounts. I am looking into getting a dell 19' Monitor with Dad's computer. 1400x900 res going to mess everything up? I am ordering my father a new computer through dell, and he doesn't want to get a new monitor with it because he already has one. I personally need a new flat screen monitor because I am still on an old 15 inch crt monitor from 4 years ago. I was looking into just ordering a monitor with his system and paying him the discounted price for it, and the 19' widescreen kind of caught my eye, but I had a few quick questions. A couple of the reviews said that the monitor uses a 1400x900 resolution, and if you dont have that setting, it will make everything look skewed. I have an NVIDIA 7950 gt, and under the NVIDIA control panel it says something about custom resolutions, but I dont want to buy a new monitor and have my video card be incompatible with it, that would be a shame. Secondly, If I ever wanted to hook my Xbox 360 up to it, wouldnt the funky resolution mess with the way that the games would look as well? Any insight on the problem is much appreciated. Thanks -Matt Yes, I ment 19", thank you....

Advice needed for building a computer? Okay so I have just decided to make a computer for gaming (sort of a split-second decision), I don't want anything high end, but enough to satisfy but recreational gaming needs (if that makes sense O.o) anyway it has been a long time since I actually built one and I am really outdated with everything lol. I did go shopping online at shopping square where they seem to have really good deals and a awesome postage discount, but I'm not sure if this shop is to be trusted... Anyway I chose what i wanted and I like the price, but I think it is a little low? Here is a list of what i have chosen: Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4P AM3 Motherboard KINGSTON KVR800D2N5K2/4G 4GB KIT 800MHz(PC2-6400) DDR2 AMD 9950 PHENOM x4 AM2+ 2.66GHZ QUAD CORE CPU I'm not so sure about this processor, I read somewhere that anything below 3.1GHZ bottlenecks the HD4850 graphics card. Which I think is great. Okay now for questions. 1)Is this site trustworthy? 2)Is everything compatible? 3)Is anything going to be Bottlenecked? 4)What power supply do I need? I really have no clue about what power supply i need. 5)Is this a good computer or am I just going to spend money on junk? Okay I think that is about it, any advice/comments and answers before I make a decision would be much appreciated. Thank You! Sorry I accidentally put this in the wrong section =/ I live in Australia Is Newegg American? and the site is http://www.shoppingsquare.com.au
Did I buy a good computer? I just bought a Dell inspirion computer this afternoon as a Christmas gift to the family. It comes with a 19'' WideScreen LCD HD Monitor, 2.1 GHz AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor 4000+, 16 DVD-RW, 320 GB hard drive/ 7200 rpm, 2 GB of DDR2 system memory- 667 MHz, 13-in-1 digital media card reader and the mouse/keyboard. It was $698 (w/o tax) but, with the my employee discount and Christmas bonus I got it for $590 (w/ tax). Is this a good deal? Do you think that is a good speed processor and enough memory space for Windows Vista? Let me know your input. Thanks. P.S. Here is the link for the computer...http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=7810487

To, or NOT to, purchase a new computer: should I, or rather should I just UPGRADE? I am probably the most least-knowledgeable computer person, on this entire program. So any recommendations, suggestions or advice that any of you might care to offer, would be very much appreciated. At present, I own a real "cheapy", a Dell B-110, which I purchased about 2-4 years ago. Paid around $500 for it; was working at the VA as a volunteer, and received a 25% discount on it because of this. Have added a new HP printer, and replaced the monitor with a new Flatron "thin-?" one: both of which, I'm more than content. I won a $2,300 jackpot yesterday; and I would lke to either replace the Tower - the hardware - or upgrade completely. But don't want to spend more than a $1,000 - preferably less. Oh, I've also already bought speakers for my present system. And there's one other important consideration: I'm an avid classical music lover, and have an extensive library. This may factor into any evaluation. Thanks, Alberich. "one(1) hour after posting. Thanks very much for your answers: will try hard to comprehend them(I'm really a "dunder-head" when it comes to computers. I've heard from many sources, that the "Vista" is terrible; that one should stay with the XP. What is your opinion? Thanks to everyone for your very helpful responses; very much appreciated. "i.jone": am getting contradictory opinions regarding my B-110 - to, or not to retire it. A comp. tech. who has serviced my computer before - tripled memory, etc. - is coming out tomorrow to check it out. His advice so far, is to just upgrade: doesn't think I need to replace the tower and hardware. Says it sounds like it's mostly "software issues". Alberich

Might Wal-Mart reward me for this? Ok, here's what happened. I purchased a computer and monitor from Wal-Mart through STS, on a credit card, and picked it up. The computer was $798, the monitor $229, the whole package being $1027 altogether. I found the monitor cheaper elsewhere, and when i picked up my stuff from Wal-Mart, I returned the monitor. Long story short, there was a little confusion between the associates handling my return, and now I'm looking at my card account online, and there are 2 transactions of Wal-Mart credting my account, one for the $229, which is correct, but then a second transaction crediting me for $1027. So they credited me $1256 total. Both transactions have posted and are final. Before you read any further, please note that I AM GOING TO call and have this straightened out. I am an honest person and would never steal any amount of money, let alone $1,000. My question is this: do you think I could get anything out of this? Maybe like a discount on a future purchase, or a Wal-Mart gift card or something for being honest and saving their company over $1k? I am going to have this straightened out and make sure Wal-Mart gets their money back either way, I'm just wondering if I may be able to get something out of it for myself. Thanks!

Buying Cheap LCD's In Bulk? We have a company that deals with second hand used computers and we normally sell to the public and a really low discount price. We target elderly and disabled people and realy want to offer them a good price. Right now we have tons of older crt monitors but we want to also offer lcd monitors at a very good price as well. Our customers are not picky or demanding about the condition of their stuff because most everyone that buys from us has never had a computer before. Besides eBay, is there any sites or companies that would offer second hand cheap mabe grade b lcd monitors to a company like us? Like i said we are almost a non-profit because we sell for so cheap, and were not trying to compete with any companies near us.
Question about MAC Computers...? I'm thinking about buying a Mac computer for Christmas, & I'm not really sure what I need. I know I want a desktop computer, but what else do I have to buy for it? I know that I'll have to buy a monitor, but what else do I need for it to run? Also, about how much do you think the total would cost up to be? & does Apple have holiday discounts on their computers? One last question: Can I get internet on a Mac computer from local internet service? Thanks, I really don't know a thing about macs, lol!

I am going to be buying my first laptop for work (primarily)--we have two desktops in the house already but the added bonus of being able to leave and do work seems nice. I get a pretty nice discount off of Dell ones too. Anyway--I do not know the first thing about laptops. Things I need: -Ability to support two monitors doing different things on different screens... -a 16-17 inch screen (i am an editor, need a screen bigger than 14) -XP -Microsoft works, and word -Adobe Any suggestions? What is the difference between the Vostro, Inspiron, and the other Dell laptops? How much memory should I have (I won't be saving as much to this computer like pictures or documents as i will my desktop) Any advice? Thanks !

I need helping deciding what macbooks I need to buy for college.? Should I get a refurbished 2.4ghz aluminum macbook, refurbished 2.26ghz macbook pro, 2.26ghz white unibody macbook with student discount, or wait for a new generation macbook pro? Fourth, should I wait for the i3, i5, or i7 Intel processor for macbooks to come? I need a computer that can help me in college. You see I need to save a lot of money when I get to college and I couldn't decide if I want to spend the money. Also I need to keep the computer alive for a few years. All the computers are great and I'm searching for a computer that is the best for me. First is the 2.4ghz aluminum macbook, it has a fast processor, black lit keyboard, LED-backlit glossy widescreen display, and it's aluminum. I could get this refurbished in the apple store, but i heard that the 2.4ghz has a little problem with Snow Leopard. Is this true about Snow Leopard? Second is the 2.26ghz macbook pro. it's like the same as the 2.4ghz macbook aluminum, but the macbook pro has the SD slot install, 7- hour battery, 60% for more color(i think). I dont need a SD slot much, i dont care how long the battery last unless it goes more than 5 hours, and I dont care about the color has long as I can see the word and stuff on the monitor. Third is the 2.26 white unibody macbook. the computer has great features and I love how apple recreate the macbook plus it's cheap now if you use a student discount, which it is $899 for student dicount plus tax. But problem about this macbook that I dont really want is that it get's dirty. Out if the three computers, i need the back lit keyboard, one that doesnt get dirty, and a good fast processor. So help me. one thing if somebody ask for RAM or hard drive, i got it cover because i already brought one just in case u need one

Question over Big Brother is Watching Everyone.? It a question in my homework. Here is the article you need to read first and the question is below, Privacy eroding, bit by byte Computers, Engineers Find New Ways to Keep Tabs On Us First there were security cameras, sprouting like mushrooms on street corners and buildings. Then came shopper cards, offering discounts in exchange for details about buying habits. In recent years, we've seen the emergence of electronic tags or "cookies" on the Internet, software that monitors e-mail, GPS devices that pinpoint our position on the planet, and a growing number of machines that capture fingerprints and face prints. Now comes the news that federal regulators approved the injection of microchips under the skin, enabling physicians with the right gear to know who someone is without having to ask. And yesterday, the omniscient-seeming search engine Google bested itself by announcing a service to probe for information both online and in your own machine. One company official called it a "photographic memory for your computer." Google says no personal information will be sent back to the company. But if it feels like you can't do anything these days without someone looking over your shoulder, you're not just paranoid. Cheap computers, blazing fast networks and clever engineers are finding more and more ways to keep tabs on where you go and what you buy, generally with your permission. They're even getting better at guessing what you'll do next. "It's this whole new world. It's sort of like all these little details about our lives are being recorded," said Richard M. Smith, an Internet security consultant in Boston. "We love the conveniences. We love the services. But people kind of instinctively know there's a dark side to this. They just hope it won't happen to them." Smaller, Faster and Cheaper To be sure, companies have long gathered personal and shopping information to better market to customers, often with dubious results. Who hasn't received junk mail or telemarketing calls that seem to have no connection with their lives? But those initiatives are fast improving' and accelerating as people live more of their lives tethered to cell phones, the Internet and the rest of the wired world, where trading off personal information is part of the price of admission. Think about a typical day. An advertising service is notified when you check the sports scores on the Web. The EZ-Pass transponder signals when you go through a tollbooth. The pharmacy collects personal medication details and sends them along to data companies for analysis. At work, some employees now use face recognition systems to get in to their offices, or they type on machines that trace every keystroke. "Every move you make is becoming part of your permanent record," said Peter P. Swire, a privacy expert and law professor at Ohio State University. "The trend is smaller, faster, cheaper." Rapid Accumulation There's no question the data are accumulating, and faster than many people understand. A few years ago, researchers at the University of California at Berkeley estimated that all the information created by humanity by 1999 would double by about now. One of the leading aggregators of personal information, an Arkansas company called Acxiom Corp., has roughly a million times more information about adult Americans and their families than when it first sold stock two decades ago. Other commercial information services routinely tout their ability to access some 20 billion records. And that's not counting the digital details that come in the form of photographs, videotapes and sensor readings. Most people know companies can mine credit card data, loan records and other transactions. But few know that companies already offer video-mining services as well. One day we might be able to mine the information generated by radio frequency identification chip implanted in our arms. Or we might just use a Google search service custom-made for RFID, as the chips are known. Not everybody is vexed by these trends. Homeland security, law enforcement and intelligence officials are rushing to take advantage of this wealth of information to protect the country. Web sites like Amazon.com, cell phone services, catalogue retailers, financial services companies and many others are increasingly adept at using data systems to serve customers. Ask people whether they'd give up those services, and many would offer a resounding "no." David Brin, an author and futurist, believes that recent technological developments have revolutionized the ability of people to see, through cameras around the globe, and remember details through almost unimaginably rich warehouses of information that serve as proxies for our limited memories. He predicts that we will one day be able to "know" almost everybody in the world through instant access to personal information in ubiquitous dat
High performance pc for graphic design? I'm a student so I was considering Dell for the discount. I'd like to have a lot of slots for room to add memory over time, to improve graphics and sound cards so nothing integrated, and an i7 processor. I also game a little bit and I tend to multitask while using the Adobe suite. I'd like a media card reader included so I can just plug in my SD card, and a lot of usb ports. i'm not sure if I should look into gaming desktops, I know almost nothing about them, with the Overclocking, and the liquid cooling... They don't always look well-built, but I could be wrong and I am open-minded. Windows Vista Ultimate would probably be my best bet as well. My price range is around $2500, monitor included./ A fast, high performance, reliable desktop pc that doesn't overheat and good graphics is what I'm looking for. And a student discount would be nice if possible. Thanks. Oh and as a side note- I read that Windows might be offering free copies of Windows 7 to those that buy a computer after July 1st with Vista. Home edition for Windows 7 home edition, and Ultimate for ultimate, etc. If anyone knows anything about that, if I should wait or if its just a rumor, please let me know. Thanks.
Is the customer service at Dell really that bad? What laptop should I choose? (Design student)? I'm a Communication Design student going into the second year of UNT's 4 year program. It is now required that we have our own laptop to bring to class, and I am pulling my hair out trying to earn enough money to get a nice one by the end of the summer. I need the laptop to last for 4 years, because I know after graduation I will not have enough money for a new one right off. I had my heart set on a 17-inch Dell Studio laptop for months. Customized with the Design Studio cover, maxed out processor, 4 gigs of RAM, the whole bit. The price of the system before tax comes to around $1500. Recently I began reading user reviews on CNET and similar sites, and the reviews for these laptops are atrocious. Ranging from crap computers to terrible and time-wasting service, I'm definitely on guard now. I have three options: I can buy the Studio laptop. *I love the included numberpad *Much better customization options *Larger screen *Not a Mac OS *I already have Adobe CS3 for PC I can buy a 13" Macbook Pro with the 2.53 GHz processor, 4 gigs of RAM and Applecare *More portability *I already have a 19" monitor I can hook it up to make up for the diminished screen size *Seems much more reliable *I could get a free 8 GB iPod touch, then sell it on craigslist for about $200 which would essentially cover the cost of the care plan. *Having a computer that actually has Helvetica on it would be nice. Buying a used MacBook Pro off of craigslist *Sort of risky *A lot of these are just designers upgrading to a bigger size, so many of these have Adobe CS4 pre-installed which is a huge bonus. *Cheaper, but no free iPod to sell off. My main PC to Mac concern is that if I buy a new mac I will not have enough money to buy an Adobe suite, which means I'll either have to run those only on Windows in bootcamp, or I'll have to find means of pirating it. :( The other big concern is that I won't have enough money to buy these until about two weeks before I move back in to school. So if I do buy a Dell online, and it's a lemon and needs to be sent back and refunded, I probably won't get it all dealt with before classes start, and that's a big problem. I am in no way interested in buying an HP, almost everyone I know has problems with them. My girlfriends hard drive crashed, my friend's went to shit shortly after the warranty expired. Most people I hear who have problems with them, have the issues right after the warranty's up. I am insistent on paying for an extended warranty. A lot of people say it's a waste, but I would much rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. I don't want a mac because it's a design standard. I would prefer not to have the same damn laptop every other kid in my class has, I am solely concerned about reliability and overall value. The Studio laptop and Macbooks that I mentioned above are roughly the same price if you take into consideration me selling off the free iPod and going off the student price for macbooks. The Dell student discount isn't as good and they don't seem to offer studio 17's... I would like to hear some advice on laptop owners as to where I should go now. Please only answer if you actually own one of the laptops in question, I need to hear from real customers, and please no "Macs are bullshit get a PC" kind of answers and vice versa.

Question about Adobe Photoshop cs4 design premium student edition. Extremely desperate!? So for Christmas my Mom & Dad bought me Adobe Photoshop cs4 design premium student edition from Amazon. Naturally I was ecstatic, but seeing as how this was my third present I opened I didn't bust into it right away, I had more to come. Instead between presents I read the box and noticed it said "Student Edition products are for purchase by higher education students only. A Higher education student is defined as full- or part-time student enrolled at a higher education institution that is an accredited public or private university or college (including community, junior, or vocational colleges) that grants degrees requiring not less than the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time study." Alright, so here's the deal. I'm in a vocational college half the day while I'm in high school. My school does require me to take two years, but only because I am in cosmetology. But they monitor whether I make it into the second year or not. So, I suppose my question is, does this count? And does it count even thought I'm in cosmetology? And if it doesn't count, then what business did Amazon have selling this program to my dad without proof of College id & etc? Because every other site requires you to prove eligibility before you even purchase the program. My dad said he checked everything on the page, because it was on sale at a price of 300 bucks, so he was skeptical. I cannot find this program on amazon anymore. So this wasn't a mistake made by my Dad. And, another site (http://www.academicsoftwareusa.com/specials.cfm) says this: "The educational discount is available to students and teachers in K-12 and higher education. Educational licensing is available to educational institutions." I'm not sure if this is just limited to the site, or if I can have this program if I'm in high school. Oh, and yes, I am a senior. just in case anyone needs to know. I really need help, this is something I've wanted for a very long time, I've been going graphic arts for 5 years and this is a dream come true. Only, it really hasn't come true yet until this program is on my computer. [PS: Does anyone know if the student edition and regular editions have a difference in programs? If the student edition lacks anything the regular edition has?] Thank you SO much. I really hope someone makes my Christmas wish come true and answers me! :] I noticed that on the previous post, that I said http://www.academicsoftwareusa.com/specials.cfm said I could be in highschool. I read the wrong one, I was reading the regular version, not student edition. Sorry! Student edition there says well alot of stuff, aha.

Windows Vista Ultimate would probably be my best bet as well. My price range is around $2500 monitor included. A fast, high performance, reliable desktop pc that doesn't overheat and good graphics is what I'm looking for. Thanks.

Mine looked brand spanking new. Very fast, the battery does last only 1 1/2 hours, but I got an extra battery for $65 on eBay used and it works nicely. Came with Vista, but I put WinXP on mine and found all the drivers on the internet. The construction is very sturdy hard plastic, none of the cheap flimsy stuff. Overall the value is great, it feels and looks more durable than laptops of the past, and is fast. Great buy. REVIEW BY: Rick M. Reviewed Aug 07, 2008 I bought this laptop a week ago.and received it Wednesday. Excellent condition, I would have thougt I just picked it up at a store. My only problem was when I allowed Norton Internet Security to load (60 day trial)and then brought up the internet, half way through loading, the system locked up. The only way to free it up was to manualy power down. I unistalled Norton and installed AVG Free. NO more problems !!!! This is a very fast easy to use laptop with all the bells and whistles. Also very fast shipping,3 days. VERY HAPPY REVIEW BY: fraqtured Reviewed Aug 06, 2008 i bought the T1625 which is essentially the same specs as this, and wanted to input the impression i drew from the t1625. first off, great price, amazing features, and with a laptop cooler running $40 dollars for a middle of the road model, this laptop will run cool [the only complaint i have found on these was the heat] and you will have picked yourself up a top with features running in some cases nearly twice as much in price of a non refurbs, which will only be the refurbs of tomorrow. run all the updates through gateway, and do a clean reinstall and pertition reformat when you unpack, it, it will take a little bit of time, but will point you in a much faster direction. this laptop is highly recomended in my opinion. REVIEW BY: Reviewed Aug 05, 2008 This is my first purchase from TD.com, and I'm very satisfied with it. The Turion 64 dualcore processor and the 2GB of RAM make short work of everything I throw at it; I have Pidgin (my IM client), Firefox (with 3 tabs open, including YouTube), LimeWire, and uTorrent all running at the same time and there is absolutely no slowdown whatsoever. My only gripes are that it gets a little bit hot when charging, and the battery only lasts for an hour and a half; I can deal with heat and the battery can be easily upgraded. The only thing you have to worry about with refurbished products is the look, not performance; Mine came with a small scratch in the top of the case, but performs like a champ. If you don't mind some minor cosmetic flaws, I'd definitely recommend this computer to anyone on a budget, especially at this price! Your computer uses memory to run your Operating System, applications, peripherals, and to generate and display graphics on your computer monitor. Video memory is a form of RAM, and is either built into your motherboard; or on a graphics card (video card). Depending on the motherboard's configuration, and that of the video card (if separate or built-in to the motherboard), your computer may have to draw on its own RAM memory to meet its video memory needs. This creates shared memory, where your computer’s RAM will be shared between its own Processor (CPU) and its graphics chip. The result is that some systems will have shared memory, some will not. If you have 2GB (for example) of system memory installed, you may notice that your system reports significantly less memory. This is because your system is using shared memory for your video. What can you do about this? You can actually configure this shared memory through your computer’s BIOS settings. However, this is a setting best left alone, since it is typically optimized for display performance, and making changes may impact display resolutions, and other video capabilities. The simplest solution is usually to either: increase your system memory; or to upgrade the video hardware. By upgrading to a new video card with built-in video memory, then turning off shared memory, you will free your system to use it's maximum potential memory, and provide your system with much more robust video features. Click Here for our Memory Options » Click Here for the latest Video Cards » How Much Memory Do You Really Have? When you look at the specifications for a computer, it will display the installed memory, and typically the maximum memory that can be installed. However, while these are real values, they represent a potential useable memory. The actual useable memory may be different from these values. The reason is simply that a computer may configured to use shared memory, which reduces the amount of RAM that is available to the CPU by using some of it for other purposes, such as for video memory. In some cases, you can control the maximum useable memory through system settings, and by upgrading to a video card that has internal onboard video memory. But always remember, that the amount of memory that your system reports, is not always the amount of actual installed memory. If you find that you need more memory, we suggest expanding your system memory, since this is the most effective performance increase, and the one that is easiest to perform .
