How to recycle large (computer) foam pieces? Our local recycling doesn't accept foam pieces, such as the ones protecting computer monitors. Local shippers DO accept styro peanuts, but not these big chunks. Anyone have ideas? I've looked on the net without much solution. I'm in Seattle, WA. By recycle, I mean also re-use. I've email Hewlett Packard asking if they would accept the foam back for re-use, but haven't heard from them yet.

Normally we throw away the stand that it's on. I would like to find a way to recycle these as we have thrown away over 300 and it's still good material. Is there a place that will accept hard plastic and be able to do something with it?

I know tv is supposed to be tricky. Hopefully one of you geniuses out there has great idea! Thanks, Chris
Does regular trash pick-up take old CRT computer monitors? I'm asking because my old monitor gave out, and I don't know what to do with it up here. Does regular trash-day service take old monitors? Oh, and is it possible to recycle them yourself? I for one had the idea of taking the main board out to make quirky keychains out of the components (hey, I'm a computer nerd).

Computer recycling centers for cash? I have 17 computer monitors, 20 old computers (p3/p2 class) whole bunch of keyboards, mice and peripherals and about 10 extra motherboards I'm looking to get rid of. I figure the keyboards/mice won't be recyclable but can I get any money out of the computers and monitors and motherboards for the copper and other metals in them? I need to get this crap out of here, but I don't want to just throw it all in the garbage, and I'd like to make some of my money back from when I bought this stuff originally. For the record I live near Pittsburgh PA.
Which parts of a computer can be thrown in the garbage without having to be recycled? I know the monitor has to be brought to a recycling center. What about the computer case? What about the parts inside the computer case? There are various parts lying around. Like this one metal piece that looks like it's supposed to hold floppy drives. It attaches to a certain case and I don't think I even have that case anymore. So it's practically useless.
Can I import CRT cullets recyled by an authorised recycler in the United States? I am a trader and middleman, going to import CRT glass cullets from a United States supplier who is licensed to recycle used Televisions and Used computer monitors to supply a CRT monitor manufacturer in my country. Will I face any objections with the local port authorities or customs to clear these shipments and sell to the CRT manufacturer in my country. Any advice how to import and supply to the CRT manufacturer?
Have you ever had an LCD computer monitor pack up on you? What happens . My ? computer repair shop tells me that my monitor is on it's way out as it keeps flashing on and off before it finally shows a static screen after about 3/4 of an hour. It is not the drivers but I have a suspicion that Windows needs reinstalling and that the monitor is okay. I have no way of testing here at home so I can only be guided by what the repair man tells me. Has anything like this happened with your monitor screen. If I have to buy a new monitor so beit but only three years useage seems pretty poor to me for a monitor. I recycled my last one as it was so big and clumsy but nevertheless reliable. Carol I've tried everything believe me I have. But thanks for the suggestion anyway.

What do I do with my old, unwanted computer? I just bought a new computer and I have this old Dell desktop. It's about 8 years old so it's one of those beige ones with the big monitors and towers. Can I sell it or should I recycle it? It still works. I'm asking this question from the old computer.
Is there a free software that will enable me to see what is being downloaded onto my computer? I think my husband has been downloading porn onto my computer. 1.) I'm scared he might download a virus. 2.) He's addicted to porn and I'm trying to get him to STOP the downloads. 3.) He swore he wouldn't do it. 4.) He thinks he's not gonna get busted doing it. I have a KeyLogger program and a page monitor on my comp and I can see that he's been to the porn sites. I haven't told him that I know he's been on the sites, so he thinks he's getting away with it. ALSO: Is there a way to find things that he downloaded if he deleted them from the folder he saved them too, from the recycle bin, and from the recent documents folder??? It might not seem to be a big deal to some people but his addiction to porn is WAY out of hand.
What recycled items could be used to make a bed? For example a cat house made out of a computer monitor, or a sofa made out of a bath. I'm looking for ideas for beds that involve reusing items rather than using recycled wood or items that need to be processed in some way.
Where can I donate old computer stuff in the Phoenix area (not for profit)? I have some older but perfectly-working PC monitors (the kind that are really space-consuming). I don't think anyone would buy it from a thrift store because you could get something newer for not much more money. So I want to donate it somewhere were it won't just be recycled; I want it to either be used as a monitor or have the parts sold by a non-profit type organization. Any local or national programs you know of? Thanks! PS that's Phoenix, as in the capital city of Arizona, USA. Anywhere in the metro area would be fine.
Cash for computer monitiors? Hey guys- I've been cleaning out my parents' warehouse and have found a couple of tube computer monitors and older CPUs. I believe they are CRT (like tvs? I'm not totally sure, I don't know, all I know is they were purchased from Dell between the years of 1997-2003, we have 3 or 4) and I was wondering if there was any way to sell them or get rid of them for cash? eBay isn't really the best solution ( people are turned off by shipping). Is craigslist the best answer? Are there any recycling orgainzations that would want them? Thanks for your time.
who is in charged for discarded computer components??? The discarded items often are known as e-waste. As technology advances and prices fall, many people think of computers as disposable items. Computers contain toxic elements, including lead, mercury, and barium. Computers thrown into landfills or burned in incinerators can pollute the ground and the air. A vast amount of e-waste ends up polluting third world countries. One solution is to recycle old computers. Some lawmakers prefer a more aggressive approach, such as setting up a recycling program that would be paid for by adding a $10 fee to the purchase price of computers and computer equipment, or forcing computer makers to be responsible for collecting and recycling their products. California already requires a recycling fee for any products sold that include old monitors and other equipment!! Manufacturers have taken steps, such as offering to recycle old computers and using energy efficient and environmentally friendly manufacturing techniques, but some claim that consumers should bear the responsibility of disposing of their old computers parts. Question is.. what should we do 2 make sure th comps are disposed safely?? plus, do u think t government n th manufacturers shld be th peeps who are responsible 4 safe disposal??
