  1. Gateway, hands down. The i7 is miles faster than just about any other processor on the market. Although, you could save yourself a lot of money by building the system yourself.
  2. For video editing the iMac is the best choice by far. I have that model myself and I actually use it in a professional environment. The video quality is not the same on the Gateway (or any other PC) We have tried both platforms and the Mac is the clear winner for compatibility with several video formats. It comes with iMovie and will do HD beautifully. I recommend Final Cut Express or iMovie HD - free download at Apple.com (predecessor to the latest iMovie versions) if you are really serious about editing. No "overlocking" necessary and card readers are inexpensive - which would be cheaper than buying editing software you'd really need for the Gateway.
  3. Overclocking the Gateway depends on the Motherboard installed, but most X58 chipset motherboards can overclock well and support 3 way SLI all in x16 mode. If you like Mac software, go with the iMac. If you like Video Editing on Windows, stick with the Gateway. I'd personally buy two computers, one White Macbook for $1000 to do your Video Editing (use the same monitor and keyboard with a KVM switch) and one mid range $700-$1000 gaming PC that can be upgraded. http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_mac/family/macbook http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227123 Then upgrade your Video Card when games can no longer run as well as you need them to. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-radeon,2151.html $2200 is too expensive for a computer with a 4850 GPU that can not be upgraded. The $1000 Macbook is also very fast (fast CPU in general) if equipped with 4GB RAM for $40 By the Way, the Graphics card in the iMac is a Mini PCI-e card used in notebook computers that is soldered into place. It can not be upgraded, but the 4850 is still pretty fast but retails for $130 in stores and is already obsolete for a $2200 desktop machine.
  4. For overclocking the gateway, you probably need to flash the BIOS. However for video editing you're going to do things much faster with a quad-core i7 compared to a dual-core Core 2, as video encoding and editing is one of the few things that can take complete advantage of 4 cores. i7 is much, much faster performance wise compared to a Core 2 because of a brand new architecture and it's also a quad core. You're also getting 9 gigs of RAM.
  5. Get the Very High End 3.06Ghz Intel Core 2 Extreme !!! Very well worth it !!!!!!!
